India rode on Virat Kohli’s 31st ODI hundred to post 280. The skipper didn’t really get support from the other end as a lot of batsmen got starts but none of them were able to convert it into a big one.
Tom Latham and Ross Taylor’s 200 run partnership helps New Zealand beat India by six wickets at Mumbai. Kiwis lead series 1-0.
Chasing a target of 281 runs, New Zealand got off to a good start as Martin Guptill and Colin Munro had stitched together a 48-run stand before Munro was dismissed by Bumrah.
Kane Williamson departed soon after as Kuldeep Yadav struck for India who was soon followed by Guptill leaving the visitors in a spot of bother. But Ross Taylor (95) and Tom Latham (103*) had put together a 200-run fourth wicket stand to take their team home.
It was Trent Boult, who gave the Kiwis early breakthroughs, removing Shikhar Dhawan (9 off 12 balls) and Rohit Sharma (20 off 18 balls) cheaply on a Wankhede pitch which had spongy bounce and ball was holding up a bit.
Earlier, Virat Kohli brought up his 31st ODI century that helped the hosts to reach a challenging total of 280 for 8 but at the end it was just not enough for the home side to win the match.
